Sophie Lopez

Stylist | West Hollywood

When celebrity stylist Sophie Lopez opens the door to her rad West Hollywood pad, she greets us in a metallic lamé pencil skirt and scarlet leather boots— and in a matter of minutes, we’d realize just how fitting that ensemble really was: if some girls wear their hearts on their sleeves, Lopez wears her spice. What we mean, of course, is that the Los Angeles transplant is devilishly witty, a tad sardonic, and unmistakably outspoken– in the best way possible. We’ll chalk it up to “So Lo’s” good ol’ British upbringing? (See what we did there? Spicy ladies need spicy nicknames!) After years of dressing saucy men across the pond, Lopez traded in suits and British GQ for red carpet gowns and Hollywood, and just like that, she was outfitting stars like Camila Alves (AKA Mrs. McConaughey), Christie Brinkley and now-BFF, Kate Hudson. Between her elevated eye for push-the-boundary get-ups and her enviable personal collection of stilettos, slips and sunnies, all we’re wondering is, “what did La La Land ever do before her?” Here, Lopez sits down with CITIPHILE to reveal her little black book on LA.

NEIGHBORHOOD STANDBY: Izaka-Ya — it’s the freshest sashimi closest to me.

COFFEE OR TEA: Coffee from Blue Bottle because they have great coffee and they make the best avocado toast.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT: I love Il Fico for Italian food; their rice balls are incredible.

COCKTAIL DE LA NUIT: A vodka soda. I like going to Tenants of the Trees for a drink; they have a great vibe.

AFTER-WORK HAPPY HOUR: Laurel Hardware — it’s close and their back courtyard is super cute.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: Dinner at Sunset Tower for Old Hollywood vibes.

WHERE TO BRING OUT-OF-TOWNERS: To one of the beautiful hikes like Temescal Canyon; it’s one of my favorite things about living in LA.

MUSIC PICK: I like a bit of everything [when it comes to music]. SoulCycle has some good beats that keep me hyped for the workout!

BEST BRUNCH: Little Dom’s is the best— the atmosphere is amazing and they have newspapers on old-school pins to keep them from tangling. The food is good too!

BEST PEOPLE WATCHING: Erewhon has lots of healthy-looking, beautiful people buying organic vegetables!

HEALTHY STAPLE: Pressed Juicery for a hard cleanse.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Gjelina in Venice their pizza is the best.

LA’S BEST-KEPT SECRET: Neptune’s Net in Malibu.

REGULAR AT: Backyard Bowls — the Hercules shake is my go-to. Also, Alfred’s on Melrose Place, Milk for the best cookies and ice cream, Fonuts for great vegan and gluten-free doughnuts, and Entré Nous for the best vintage finds.

TO SEE AND BE SEEN: Anywhere on Melrose Place or Sunset Boulevard.

TO RELAX AND UNWIND: The Now for massages!

GO-TO GETAWAY: I love to jet back and forth to NY and the best part is that my work allows me to live a semi-bicoastal life. In New York, it’s nice to walk amongst the people and find inspiration.

CLOSET CHECK: My style is fashion forward and eclectic. To shop, I like Entré Nous, Reformation and Magasin in Culver City for men. Clare Vivier is good for accessories.

BEST HOME DÉCOR: H. D. Buttercup and West Elm are my go-tos. My home is soft minimal with Hamptons vibes. I like my spaces to have a relaxing feel about them.

BEST HOST/HOSTESS GIFTS: Maison Midi on La Brea has really nice gifts.

QUOTIDIAN KEEPER: Suzy K’s Dry Cleaners is the best!
